Washington Peace Center workshop:  DC’s Not Just a Protest Playground: Organizing in the Belly of the Beast

Do you protest in DC? Discuss how national events/mobilizations impact local organizing in DC and how we can work in solidarity to strengthen movements. Currently, Washington, DC serves as a functional location where many progressives come to the city to achieve political ends through protesting and lobbying. Lost in the shuffle are the struggles of the everyday working class people of DC who share similar issues with others in the nation. Participants in this workshop will engage in a facilitated dialogue to deepen national and local organizing efforts that take place in DC with aims to come up with strategies to local-global alliances to strengthen progressive movements.

Details: Wednesday, June 23, 2020 – 10:00am – 12:00pm, Woodward Academy: 1471
