EMPOWER D.C. is a city-wide grassroots organizing project. Its mission is to enhance, improve, and promote the self-advocacy of low and moderate income DC residents in order to bring about sustained improvements in their quality of life.Currently, Empower DC’s grassroots campaigns address the critical issues of affordable housing, affordable child care, improving public education, and saving public property. Empower DC also provides free trainings through its Empowerment Circles series, and trains residents in audio and video production through its Grassroots Media Project. Membership is $10 a year.
