Sister Space and Books was founded in 1994.  It is America's only women owned and operated bookstore specializing in books by and about African American Women.  Sister space has demonstrated a strong commitment to the community by sponsoring community based readings, book discussions and signings, poetry readings, writing workshops, art exhibits, and a program for hearing impaired girls.  It also hosts several book clubs and the African American Women's Resource Center, Inc.
