Walter Reed Vigil
Walter Reed Vigil
The Walter Reed Vigil takes place every Friday from seven to nine PM, middle of the 7100 block of Georgia Avenue NW between Dahlia and Elder Sts. The vigil is now in its seventh year. It has three principles: Care for the Wounded, Full Benefits for All veterans, and Bring All the Troops Home Now! From the first, the Vigil has been a voluntary activity, its participants self motivated to stand for Peace, to call for an End to all wars, and to reject the policy of endless war as a solution to humanity's problems. Today, with the eventual closing of the base, participation by people opposed to war is needed more than ever to stop the parade of ambulances carrying our suffering sisters and brothers from faraway battlefields to the operating rooms of Walter Reed and elsewhere.
