Bring the green jobs fight to Washington

Date:
Saturday, March 28, 2009 - 3:30pm - 6:30pm

Dear MoveOn member,

The fate of President Obama's plan to rebuild the economy isn't going to be decided on Capitol Hill. It'll be decided in communities and neighborhoods all across the country.

A core part of Obama's economic plan is creating millions of good, green jobs and repowering America with clean energy. But Congress is afraid to cross Big Oil and Big Coal, which are spending millions opposing the president's proposals.

So we're launching a new grassroots campaign for a new energy economy, called Power Up America. We'll work together locally to show our senators and representatives how we can transform the economy, create jobs that can't be outsourced, and fight the climate crisis.

We're kicking off the campaign in Washington on Saturday, Mar. 28, 2009, at 3:30 PM. You can learn about the campaign, meet other MoveOn members, and find out how to get involved. Will you join us?

Yes, I'll be there to launch the Power Up America campaign.

Sorry, I can't make it.

Here's the agenda for these events:

  • Meet neighbors who are passionate about working together on this campaign.
  • Watch a short video about the opportunity to transform America with green jobs and clean energy.
  • Start a drive to build support among local small-business owners so we can show Congress the breadth and depth of our support.
  • Plan for a wave of local organizing to get the attention of senators and representatives when they're home from Washington for a congressional recess next month.
  • Brainstorm strategies for how to tailor the campaign to your community.

To get off to a good start, we need an overwhelming turnout of MoveOn members in the Washington area who're ready to pitch in. Click here to RSVP:
