Canada's Tar Sands: Too DIRTY to be GREENWASHED

WHAT: Tar Sands protest

WHEN: Friday, June 19th at 11:45pm

WHERE: In front of the Capitol Hilton Hotel in DC (16th and K St., NW)

WHO: All who oppose Tar Sands expansion and climate greenwashing

Oil companies and Canadian officials will be Greenwashing again, this time at the Canadian American Business Council’s Energy and Climate Forum. The industry-sponsored 'forum' was organized to convince U.S. business and government officials to invest in the world's dirtiest oil from Canada's Tar Sands--a dangerous step backwards for US climate and energy policies.

Making oil from Canada's Tar Sands destroys fresh drinking water, pollutes our air, and destroys our last remaining endangered forests. It also generates 3-5 times more greenhouse gases than producing oil from conventional sources. Dirty Tar Sands oil cannot be made clean by technological solutions.

Join ForestEthics and Rainforest Action Network in rallying and making some serious noise about Canada's latest attempt to Greenwash their embarrassing failure to address climate change.

Official Greenwashers Include:

Jim Prentice, Canadian Minister of the Environment and spaniel of the tar sand industry

Kimberly Corley (Senior Advisor CO2 & Environmental Affairs, Shell Oil) will moderate "The Promise of Technology in Advancing Energy and Climate Change Policies: This panel will look at examples of current advances, such as the smart grid and carbon-capture and storage."

Exxon is the host sponsor.... 'nuff said
