The Bedouins vs. the State of Israel: From Freedom to Fear
A Talk by Bette Hoover

Bette Hoover recently returned from a trip to the Negev Desert where she stayed with a Bedouin family. She is a U.S. contact for the work of BUSTAN, www.bustan.org, an organization that works to bring environmental justice to the Negev and human rights to Bedouins.
The once proud indigenous people of the desert known as the Bedouins are now the poorest of Israeli citizens and struggle for survival. The State of Israel has seized their land for industry, electrical plants, prisons, military testing and Jewish-only communities. Tens of thousands live in unrecognized villages that don’t appear on the map and don’t receive any services.
Come see Bette’s photos, hear about her experiences, and find out how you can
add your voice to those speaking up for justice and peace in the region.
