Fundraiser for Courage to Resist -- Legal Support for GI Resistance!

Join us August 1 at a Peace Dinner in Rockville to benefit Courage to Resist, a group of community members, veterans and military families supporting military objectors to America's illegal wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Courage to Resist supports individual resisters, promotes anti-war strategies and organizes resistance in streets and public places.

Steve Yoczik, an active member of Courage to Resist who went AWOL rather than participate in our war in Iraq, will tell us how we can support the troops who refuse to fight. Go to www.couragetoresist.org to learn more about this powerful voice for peace.

We will watch the video Rethinking Afghanistan, a ground-breaking, full-length documentary by Robert Greenwald focusing on what military escalation will lead to in Afghanistan. After the video, we'll discuss people's views and thoughts about this war.

We will ask you to personalize and sign a letter to your Congressperson, urging him or her to support Representative Jim McGovern's H.R. 2404, calling for an exit strategy from Afghanistan. One of us will hand deliver your letter to Capitol Hill.
