Volunteer Orientation for the DC Childcare Collective
Childcare for Social Justice!
Interested in providing childcare for organizations working to further social justice?
Join The DC Childcare Collective!
The DC Childcare Collective, a small all-volunteer group, is founded on the belief that mothers, women of color, and people with low income are critical leaders of healthy and effective social justice movements.
As an act of solidarity, The DCCC provides free childcare to progressive groups in the DC metro area that are working to further social justice.
-It is our mission to make childcare that is safe, fun, and empowering available to families, as a way of supporting their work to further social and political change.
-The DCCC provides childcare to groups in order to make their work more accessible for people with childcare responsibilities who are most affected by the lack of affordable, quality childcare options.
If you want to support families in DC working toward social change and like spending time with kids (even if you don't have too much experience), we would love hear from you.
We are planning a Volunteer Orientation for Sunday, February 7 from 1pm-5pm. We ask volunteers to make a commitment to provide childcare at least 6 times over the course of 12 months and attend additional trainings that we provide.
If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer application (available at our website www.dcchildcarecollective.org) and send it to dckids@gmail.com, or email us for a copy.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 1, 2010.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the DCCC or any of the organizations that we work with, please feel free to email us and visit our website, and help us get the word out to anyone who may be interested!
