The 2010 Children's Gallery of Black History
Rise Up! A Journey for Economic Empowerment Worldwide
Following ASALH, this year's Children's Gallery will celebrate those who pushed against the odds to attain community and financial sustainability through hands-on learning exhibits that explore the life and achievements of visionary minority leaders. The Gallery will pay tribute to 8 momentous men and women, including Nina Simone, Carter G. Woodson, Dikembe Mutombo, and A. Philip Randolph. Through creative, hands-on learning activities, each exhibit will "bring history to life" for children and youth. The purpose of this year's theme is to empower our children to realize that they too have the power to overcome the cycles of hardship in their lives and communities. Ideal for grades Pre-K to 5.
Featuring Great Persons including: Carter G. Woodson; Nina Simone; Muhammad Yunus; Donna Auguste; Bishop Vashti McKenzie; A. Philip Randolph, and more.
