John Otis will discuss his thrilling, true-life tale of American hostages, Marxist guerrillas, and buried treasure, set in the wilds of Colombia.
Law of the Jungle is the true account of how a Saving Private-Ryan-style mission degenerated into a frenzied, every-man-for-himself gold rush--and the story of one of hte most amazing hostage-rescue operations in history. John Otis will discuss his book and the current situation on the ground in Colombia.
Born in Minnesota, Otis has worked as a journalist in Latin America for mroe than two decades, and also covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. His 2001 investigation of Colombia's FARC guerrillas for the Houston Chronicle was honored by the Overseas Press club asd the best reporting out of Latin America. He now reports from Colombia for Time, GlobalPost.com and PRI's The World radio program.
