Black History Month Event: DuBois vs. Washington Debate

Date:
Saturday, February 20, 2010 - 11:00am - 3:00pm
Location :
DC

The Terrell House Board of Trustees
invites our neighbors to attend a

Black History Month celebration:

The Terrell Forensic Challenge, featuring
collegiate and high school debaters who will
revisit the great debate that took
place between

W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington

at the turn of the 20th century.

Our young adults will examine the still-relevant issues that
underlie how to best educate young African American youth in light of 21st
century realities: college preparatory vs. vocational education. A panel of scholars will set the stage for the debate, and a theatrical performance and
poetry slam will add an artistic touch to the afternoon. The event is free to the public, will include refreshments and will be held on

Saturday, February 20th

from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the
Terrell Forensic Challenge will take place on Sunday, March 7th at the same time and location. While participation is free of charge, we request that
participants register at the following Terrell House website:
