Saturday March 13th from 5-7: Freedom Fighters of the Americas: The Role of Maroons in the Haitian Revolution

The Maroons are a hidden in plain view factor in the Haitian people’s successful revolution.  Their role in securing Haiti’s successful revolution has been ignored by the flood of media attention focused on Haiti since the catastrophic earthquake that devastated that country on January 12th of this year. Nana Farika will bring to light Haitian Maroons as the driving force behind Haiti’s freedom against the backdrop of Maronage in the Americas and Boukman Duty, a Jamaican Maroon who played a pivotal role in launching the Haitian revolution.
