Department of Theatre Arts is presenting a

Symposium On Negro Leagues Baseball on

Thursday, March 11, 2010 from

3:30-5:30 pm

at Howard's Blackburn Center Forum. 


Four former Negro Leagues ballplayers, Fred Valentine (Washington Black Senators), Pedro Sierra (Detroit Stars), Mamie "Peanuts" Johnson (Indianapolis Clowns) and Ed Banks (Newark Eagles) will share their experiences while playing with the Negro Leagues.  Ron Harris, former assistant baseball coach at Howard University, and Bijan Baynes, sports journalist and expert on Black baseball, will also be presenting on the panel.  Dr. Emory Tolbert, Chairman of the Department of History, will moderator the symposium. 
 
We are presenting this symposium in conjunction with our Spring production of

Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings that will run from March 4-13 at 7:30 pm and 2:30 pm on Saturdays.
