Open Call for Submissions - Common Folk: The Voices of a Movement

Open Call for Submissions
Common Folk: The Voices of a Movement
Part I: Taking Care of Our Health

Movements of political change have always been driven by art and music.  When an issue needs to be communicated to the masses, in a language that everyone understands, art is ultimately the quickest messenger.  We at One Common Unity have noticed a deficiency in art and music addressing the issue of health and the current debate in Congress around citizens’ access to healthcare.  Your voice is needed to expand the body of art and music surrounding this topic.

This is an open call to all song writers, poets, artists, and musicians to compose new original pieces that deal specifically with the topic of Health.  We will be accepting submissions from March 11th until midnight March 21st.  This means you have 10 days to compose a new piece and get it to us!  You will be notified by March 23rd as to whether or not your piece was chosen as one of the pieces to be shared at the main event.  If your piece is selected, you will be given the opportunity to perform/ present it to a live audience on:

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Bus Boys and Poets
2021 14th St., NW Washington, DC
Langston Room

Please email your submissions to:

onecommonunity@gmail.com.
