Shaw Gentrification Revealed Tour
Monday, April. 26, 6:00-8:00pm $10

Hear about the negative impact of development on long-time residents of DC and how some communities have organized themselves to control it. Understand more deeply the racial and economic impact that market rate priorities have on lower-income communities of color. Learn about the impact that neighborhood residents have had acting collectively to build a neighborhood that works for working families.

Join Greater DC Metro Social Forum, for a 2-hour talk/walking tour of the Shaw neighborhood. You'll learn more about the Shaw community and get a chance to see the impact of its work. Andrew Willis Garcés will guide you through the history of the neighborhood, the impact of structural forces on the lives of community residents, and the struggle to create and preserve racial and economic equity in the District. The Gentrification Tour will assemble at 6th & O Streets NW (three blocks from the Mt Vernon Sq Metro).

Proceeds go to send people of color, youth, and low-income DC-Area residents to the U.S. Social Forum in Detroit. To ensure the size of the group is managable, there is a maximum group size of 19 people. So register today at www.HotSalsa.org!
