Witness to War
Busboys and Poets
5th and K Streets NW
Witnesses to war from Iraq, Gaza, and Afghanistan (the latter via skype) are touring the US to share their experiences from a perspective most of us don't get a chance to hear.
The speakers:
Josh Stieber, a veteran of the army unit that created international controversy when shown in the "Collateral Murder" video, will discuss the training of soldiers and the ultimate responsibility for civilian killings, like those portrayed in the video.
Salam Hassan, an Iraqi refugee and journalist, will share his story of growing up in Iraq and describe what he witnessed under Saddam Hussein and the US occupation.
Pam Bailey, a Peace Action Montgomery member who has just returned from five months in Gaza, will provide a firsthand account of the situation in Gaza and connect it to US foreign policy.
Don't miss what will be an extremely interesting panel!
