The Alliance for Appalachia is a coalition of 13 organizations from WV, KY, TN, and VA fighting to end mountaintop removal in Appalachia. The Week in Washington is an annual event to bring people from across Appalachia and the Nation to DC. Participants will lobby Congress people and agency officials, and also stand up and take action to stop mountaintop removal coal mining. The 2012 elections mark a critical moment to make the issue of mountaintop removal coal mining a top priority issue in Washington. At Week in Washington, we’ll not only focus on how to work to end MTR in DC, but how to fight this injustice in your local community. If you do not need funding support, the deadline is Sunday, April 15th. !
