John Judge

 John Patrick Judge passed at the age of 66, just as he had lived – with courage in the midst of pain. An internationally acclaimed researcher, writer and speaker, as well as a lifelong anti-militarist anti-racist activist, and community organizer, Judge died on April 15 due to complications from a stroke suffered in early March.

By 2040, Montgomery will have 70% more congestion, 40% more jobs and 20% more residents. In 2013, Montgomery County approved a plan for an 81-mile bus rapid transit (BRT) network.
Recent attempts to fund the plan have met resistance. Now, BRT funding from the state is set to run out, and BRT’s future in Montgomery could be in doubt.

Metro Employees Protest Requirement to Call out Sick 72 Hours in Advance

Metro’s largest union has announced that WMATA employees, doctors, riders, and advocates will gather Friday to protest the transit agency’s excused absence policy.
The regulation requires employees to call of out work 72 hours ahead of the time they anticipate being sick.
“This policy is unsafe, and further illustrates WMATA’s complete disregard for the health, safety and well-being of their employees and riders,” says the union, ATU Local 689, in a release.
