Black Magic Woman is a new series designed to highlight, celebrate and inform the public on the variety of ways Black women create, uplift and restore their communities and society at large.

This inaugural event will examine the role of “culture keepers”. What is life like on the front lines of the Black cultural space? What is the role of a cultural gatekeeper? How does culture translate into entrepreneurship and maintain its integrity? What happens when appropriation creates a higher value that potentially locks the originators out of their own cultural expression? What responsibility, if any, do culture keepers have to their community? All this and more be discussed as our panel of area thought leaders share on their personal journeys, their creative processes, and why Black culture matters.
