Hosted by DC Reinvest Coalition
On May 4, join D.C. ReInvest Coalition to PACK the DC Council Committee on Finance and Revenue and urge the committee to set a hearing for our resolution to DIVEST the city from Wells Fargo!
The "Sense of the Council Urging Reassessment of Relationship with Wells Fargo Resolution of 2017" was introduced on March 21, 2017, by Councilmember David Grosso and co-introduced by Councilmembers Anita Bonds, Elissa Silverman, Brianne Nadeau, and Charles Allen. Finance Committee chair CM Jack Evans refuses to hold a hearing on the resolution. But with D.C. in the midst of its budgeting process, there is an opportunity to make voices heard at a May 4 budget oversight hearing for the city's Office of the Chief Financial Officer, which controls D.C.'s relationship with banks such as Wells Fargo. Community members and organizers from the the D.C. ReInvest Coalition will testify, callingon the city to reassess its relationship with Wells Fargo and REINVEST D.C.'s funds — the people's money! — in socially and environmentally just institutions that support local communities by empowering D.C-area residents.
On May 4, join up to take a stand for Indigenous sovereignty, racial justice, and economic opportunity for our families and communities! #WaterIsLife #PeopleOverProfit #WeAreDCReInvest
If you'd like to testify, send a message to DCReInvestCoalition@gmail.com. They'd love to hear from you, and help share your story and voice with your elected officials!
