Books and Breakfast DC is a monthly event designed to increase childhood literacy, self-esteem, cultural and political awareness in our youth. To achieve these goals, they provide youth with free books which feature characters that look and mirrors likeness of themselves, a free and healthy breakfast!, positive role models, plenty of hugs, encouragement and an increased knowledge of their rich culture and history.

For the month of May, they will be celebrating Malcolm X's Birthday which is on May 19th. They also will be giving away an assortment of Black history literature, educational books to enhance the forward thinking possibilities of our young students and most importantly copies of The Autobiography of Malcolm X and X: A Novel to our high school students and adults. Additionally, they will have a guest speaker to lead a lively discussion on the Life and Legacy of Malcolm X.

To help keep their young minds engaged and intrigued they mix fun and activities to heighten the expectation, from coloring, games, music, dance and pure excitement enjoyed by children of all ages.
